Lots of help in big event
To the Editor:
This is a letter of thanks, both to the individuals and to our community about your response to our benefit for Fairess Douglass on Oct. 18.
First, to the committee people, Sue Stroud, our publicity chair; Megan Geiser, silent auction chair; Lynne Nelson, secretary, cookie chair and general go-to person when something was needed; Pete Dougall, our Kiwanis liason; Art Dougall, music chair; and Mary Bassett and Bob Fernamberg, our barbecue pros.
Others who filled in were Nancy Davis and Erna and Jim Hilton. Then there were on-the-spot people who helped with serving and getting things set up — Jean Dunmore and her friend Paul from Bakersfield, Arlene and Darryl Pilkington, Tish Dougall, Loni and Kent Kuentzel, Alan and Laura Sweeney, and Janet Woodson and Heather.
I can’t name all the musicians who provided wonderful music the entire afternoon, but some of them were Mark Brunasso and David Alm, Julie and the Bad Dogs, Craig Nuttycomb and his group, Bright Morning Star, and the trio of men whose names I didn’t get.
To all you wonderful people who donated gifts for our silent auction, a heartfelt thank-you.
And we can’t forget all those who baked scrumptious cookies, or Lt. Gov. Barbara Mann of Division 29 Kiwanis and all the clubs that participated. We also thank Tom Parsons and the markets that supported us — JJ’s, Spencer’s, Trader Joes, Vons.
A great big thank-you to all who got involved, even in a small way. We could not have done it without you. It was a massive undertaking, but well worth it. We raised over $8,000.
Jeanne Dougall,
General chairperson
