Children’s writers meet their fans

Students at Dorothea Lange Elementary School were entertained last Friday by children’s book author John Archambault, most famous for his books “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and “Boom Chicka Rock.”

After his Dorothea Lange presentation, he took time to autograph some of his books for his young fans.

Archambault has co-authored more than 20 other books, produced CDs and made appearances on PBS television and at schools.

His visit was part of a two-day author fair that included a meet-the-authors dinner at Spyglass Inn in Shell Beach and reception at B Wise School Supply in Arroyo Grande for adults interested in writing children’s books.

Other participating authors were Terry Pierce (“Blackberry Banquet”), Teri Sloat (“I’m a Duck!”) and Alexis O’Neill (“The Recess Queen”).

The four authors also took part in book signings and visits to Grover Beach Community Library, Dandelion Wishes in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum, San Luis Obispo City-County Library and Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum.

The children’s author fair was co-sponsored by B Wise School Supply and the San Luis Obispo County Reading Association.
