Soft water, hard money

To the Editor:

Reading the Nipomo Community Services District newsletter, they are telling us we will have to get rid of our self-regeneration water softeners, and pay $8.50 a week to a water-softener company for a canister type.

Now, if we don’t get one, and just use the water from the water company, we will use more water, more soap to wash clothes, dishes, our hair, etc.

Won’t all that soap and detergents go into our groundwater?

As seniors, we can’t afford $8.50 a week for soft water. Why doesn’t the NCSD soften water through the pipes, like other cities do? It would protect their pipes and make them last longer, cut down on repairs and save money for the city and the residents.

Why is the only way to do things to tax the people. We spend millions on studies. Are there ever any answers?
