On Tuesday, the Landowner Group parties (LOG) filed an appeal in the water litigation case that just seems to never end. On Sept. 5, 2008, Judge Jack Komar approved the Nipomo Mesa Area Groundwater Monitoring Program that has been ongoing for many months now.
The monitoring program is a result of the settlement of this historic litigation by most of the people of Nipomo who were sued who elected to settle the final phase of the litigation after having won the major issue in the case, that of prescription. The program includes representatives from the community, including Carl Holloway, and experts in hydrology. They meet regularly with the goal of monitoring the groundwater to make sure the quantity and quality are secure. The appeal does not state what their objection is to the program or why they believe Judge Komar erred in approving the program.

A Sculpture Garden was unveiled Saturday at the Trilogy Central Coast golf resort, featuring one of-a-kind sculptures created by local artists. Some of the pieces are quite eclectic and the garden is worth visiting.

Ride Nipomo has been busy planning and participating in activities that encourage horse ridership, such as the ride around the Woodland’s horse trails in September.
They have cleared and spread chips along Camino Caballo, maintain the Knollwood Trails across from Blacklake, plan to clear the overgrown trails in Blacklake Canyon and have ambitious plans to eventually create a trail from Pomeroy to Highway One. For more information on Ride Nipomo, contact their president Hans Hansson at 343-1949 or hansson@verizon.net.

Local merchants are preparing for the Christmas holiday season with open houses and holiday decorations in their stores. On Saturday, Art of Flowers will hold their annual Holiday Open House, and my sneak preview of the store revealed several gorgeously decorated trees and lots of beautiful ornaments.
They also sell home d/cor gift items. From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, you can save 15 percent on purchases over $150. There will be refreshments served and door prize drawings each hour.
Creative Patches, located on Thompson in Olde Towne, is featuring the Marilyn Tefft gift collection; and the store is filled with holiday gifts, decorations, cards and much more, in addition to the usual fare of fabrics, notions and quilting and sewing utensils. Windmill Farms also is wonderfully decorated with decorated trees and an incredible gift selection for both the home and the garden.
