Kopp to head ConocoPhillips department
ConocoPhillips has named employee Kristen Kopp supervisor of health, safety and environment at the Santa Maria Facility.
Kopp succeeds Jim Anderson, who is the new superintendent of maintenance, said a refinery spokesman.
Kopp has worked for 20 years at the refinery, and her experience includes 15 months stepping in for Anderson when he was deployed to Afghanistan.
Kopp’s new responsibilities include supervision of the refinery emergency response, safety, security and community relations programs.
She is a Cal Poly graduate with a degree in biology. Her first job after graduation was at ConocoPhillips as a laboratory supervisor; she joined the Environmental Department in 2000.
The ConocoPhillips Santa Maria Facility is one of only two refineries nationwide to be given the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association Honorable Mention Award for safety, performance and program innovation.
The facility has also been designated a California Climate Action Leader for efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
