Study support: Teens get back-to-school supplies
ByAdobe Staff
More than 50 teens each received a back-to-school supply kit full of pens, pencils, binders, a calculator, scissors, notebooks, dividers, colored pens and more at a recent event sponsored by Lifebound Leadership in Nipomo.
Guests at the fourth annual Back-to-School event were treated to a pizza dinner donated by Domino’s and entertained by a slide show of the many events and activities that Lifebound youths participated in over the last year.
The event culminated with a drawing where three youths won a brand-new Swiss Army backpack, a brand-new bike and an iPod Nano.
Lifebound Leadership also recruited 10 new members for its program, which is administered by the Economic Opportunity Commission of San Luis Obispo County Health Services Division.
Lifebound provides a free after-school program from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays where youths ages 12 to 18 can participate in homework clubs, community service projects, leadership development, enrichment field trips and career exploration as well as health education and teen pregnancy prevention.
For more information on the program, call 929-6054 or visit the teen center at 151 W. Dana St., Suite 204.
