Highway 101 coming to Clark Center in AG

The highly acclaimed country-rock group Highway 101 will open the Clark Center Association’s 2008-09 season with an

8 p.m. performance Saturday, Aug. 30, in the Clark Center for the Performing Arts.

The group’s blend of country roots and tradition with rock ’n’ roll energy helped catapult the country genre forward, tapping a whole new audience and paving the way for such blockbuster artists as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw, said an association spokesman

One of the most popular country bands of the ’80s and ’90s, Highway 101 produced 16 top 10 records and numerous No. 1 hits, including “Somewhere Tonight,” “Cry, Cry, Cry” and “(Do You Love Me) Just Say Yes.”

The band also received Grammy Award nominations for Album of the Year and Single of the Year awards.

“One of the reasons we have continued to be successful over the years is because we always strive to maintain the same musical integrity in our live shows as on our records ... we tend not to record things that cannot be reproduced live,” said drummer Cactus Moser.

Tickets for the Highway 101 concert at $25 to $40 are available by calling 489-9444 and in-person at the Clark Center box office at 487 Fair Oaks Ave., Arroyo Grande.
