Friday

Three tours are available where participants will visit museums and historic points of interest. Each tour takes approximately one hour and is four blocks long. Parasols will be provided. Breakfast tour begins at 10 a.m. and includes fresh baked goods and coffee or tea for $25 per person. The basic tour begins at 1 p.m. for $20 per person. A wine and cheese tasting tour begins at 4 p.m. for $25 per person.

n Adopt A Pet (kittens and cats) will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the PETCO store in the Madonna Plaza, 271 Madonna Road, San Luis Obispo.

The event is sponsored by the Feline Network of the Central Coast, a humane organization dedicated to the spaying and neutering, care, rescue and adoption of kittens and cats.

Adoptions costs are $60 for one pet or $80 for two pets. The fee includes spay/neuter, shots, worming, testing and free veterinary check up.

n Talley Vineyards in Arroyo Grande will host the third annual celebration of Mano Tinta wine today. The event will include festivities and music appropriate for the entire family. The entry fee is a $20 donation that will include tasting of the Mano Tinta wine, Mexican-style snacks, and a souvenir glass.

n The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s Old Fashion Family Fun Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn at Atoll Business Center, 1150 Laurel Lane in San Luis Obispo.

The event will include live music, food, games of skill and chance, prizes, market booths and an artists’ tent. A Fair Trade booth will sell coffee, rice, chocolate and other items. Fun Runs for adults and children will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

n Art in the Park at Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of the month through Nov. 2. Over 90 artists will feature paintings, sculptures, ceramics, home decoration, jewelry, glass art, textiles, and bath and beauty products.

The event will include gourmet coffee and pastries, Alex’s barbecue, live music, art demonstrations and children’s activities. Admission is free. Dogs are welcome.

n A Guided Kayak Tour will be held from 9:125 to 11:15 a.m. at Lopez Lake. Bring your own kayak or rent one from the Lopez Lake Marina.

n Central Coast Gymnastics at 21 Zaca Lane, Suite 100 in San Luis Obispo is holding Summer Super Camp through Aug. 22. The camp offers, full days, half days and single days for ages 4 to 12.

Tuesday

n The South County Senior Women’s Pool Players meet from 10 a.m. to noon the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of the month.

n Nipomo Chamber of Commerce general membership lunch will be held from 11:45 to 1:30 p.m. at Blacklake Golf Course, 1490 Golf Course Lane. Reservations are required at 929-1583.

n Acorn Stories Guided Nature Walk will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Meet at the Valley Oak Day Use area. For information, call 473-7182.

Thursday

n Grandparents as Parents Support Group will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. at 1086 Grand Ave., Arroyo Grande. The group is open to all grandparents raising their grandchildren. Call Laurie at 474-2037.

n The Dunes Center, 1055 Guadalupe St., Guadalupe, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Donation fee is $2 for adults. Children under 12 are admitted free.

All hikes and walks are free. There is a $5 parking fee at Oso Flaco Lake Natural Area. An all-terrain wheelchair is available for those with limited mobility. To reserve the wheelchair, call Carrie at 343-2455, Ext. 205.

Future

n Hospice Partners of the Central Coast will hold the sixth annual Hospice “Pardners” Hoedown from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Dairy Barn on the historic Hearst Ranch in San Simeon.

Country-western music will be provided by Monte Mills and the Lucky Horseshow Band. The event will include a barbecue and a no-host bar.

Tickets are $75 and the total number of tickets available will be limited to 350. Ticket sales will be first-come, first-served.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit hospice patients and their families.

n Californians for Disability Rights (CDR) Chapter 22 will hold a meeting from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at 1193 17th St., Los Osos. People interested in disability rights are invited to attend and network with others to help solve local county access issues. CDR educates citizens, legislators and government entities about the needs of people with disabilities.

n Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of San Luis Obispo County will host their Big Event Wine Tasting and Auction Aug. 10 at the Jack House in San Luis Obispo.

Attendees will taste a variety of food and wine and bid on auction items including vacations, private concerts, parties, art, and spa packages. Proceeds will go directly to agency services, helping BBBS provide one-on-one mentoring for children throughout the county.
