n A Father-Daughter Date Night will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the South County Regional Center, 800 W. Branch St., Arroyo Grande. The event will include dinner, dancing, contests, and king and princess crowning. The semi-formal affair is for ages 4 to adult.

n The San Luis Obispo Baby Boomer Expo and Wine Festival will be held today and Sunday at the Alex Madonna Expo Center on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo. Entry is free to the public. The event will feature 150 businesses providing products and services.

Woods Humane Society will sponsor the Wine Garden tent featuring wine, food and micro brew tasting along with a variety of music and entertainment. Entry fee is $10 and proceeds will benefit Woods Humane Society.

n A San Luis Obispo Wine and Grill Affair featuring seven local wineries will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on the Filipponi Ranch at Per Bacco Cellars, Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo. Proceeds will benefit mental health services in the community through the work of Transitions-Mental Health Association.

A panel of celebrity judges who will pick the best food and wine pairing. The event will feature live music, local art, and samples of gourmet chocolate, coffee, olive oil, breads and cheese from local vendors. Parking is free and a shuttle will be available.

n Art in the Park at Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of the month through Nov. 2. Over 90 artists will feature paintings, sculptures, ceramics, home decoration, jewelry, glass art, textiles, and bath and beauty products.

The event will include gourmet coffee and pastries, Alex’s barbecue, live music, art demonstrations and children’s activities. Admission is free. Dogs are welcome.

n The Central Coast Cactus and Succulent Society will meet at 2 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo City/County Library, 995 Palm St. There will be a speaker, refreshments and a plant giveaway. Bring a plant for the exchange.

Tuesday

n The Five Cities Swim Club, 425 Traffic Way, Arroyo Grande, is offering physical education classes for home-schooled children at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. n The Rotary Club of Nipomo meets from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the clubhouse/restaurant of Black Lake Golf Resort in Nipomo for breakfast and a program of interest. Guests are welcome and the meal cost is $9 per person.

Thursday

n Grandparents as Parents Support Group will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. at 1086 Grand Ave., Arroyo Grande. The group is open to all grandparents raising their grandchildren. Call Laurie at 474-2037.

n The Dunes Center, 1055 Guadalupe St., Guadalupe, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Donation fee is $2 for adults. Children under 12 are admitted free.

All hikes and walks are free. There is a $5 parking fee at Oso Flaco Lake Natural Area. An all-terrain wheelchair is available for those with limited mobility. To reserve the wheelchair, call Carrie at 343-2455, Ext. 205.

Future

n The San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association and the Paso Robles City Library will be hosting an open house as part of the Summer Reading Program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 14 at the library at 1000 Spring Street, across from the Paso Robles Inn.

The event will feature several operating model train layouts and displays in HO, N, O and On30 scales and there will be a model railroad yard sale with great deals on new and used model train gear. Loren Nicholson, local historian and author, will be signing copies of his book “Rails Across the Ranchos.”

n A Quilt Trunk Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 14 at First United Methodist Church, 275 N. Halcyon Road, Arroyo Grande. Over 60 quilts created by well-known local quilter Sandy Underwood will be on display. The event will also feature quilting demonstrations. Admission is $5 at the door.

A luncheon will be served from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Cost is $7 per person.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the mission work of the United Methodist Women. For information, call 773-4943.

n A Father’s Day Barbecue and Fiesta will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at St. Joseph’s Church, 298 S. Thomspson Road, Nipomo. Admission is free. Activities will include children’s games, giveaways, and a rummage sale.

A barbecue chicken dinner is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Beverages and take-out dinners are available.

n The Arroyo Grande High School Class of 1978 is having its 30th class reunion Sept. 27 at the restaurant at Pismo State Beach. More information to come.
