n Arroyo Grande High School Eagle Boosters will host a golf tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course to raise money for all the athletic programs. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. for a shotgun start at 10 a.m. with a scramble format.

Cost is $135 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, free range balls and a tri-tip/chicken dinner. Entries will be accepted individually or you can build a team up to four players. To participate, call Cypress Ridge Golf Course at 474-7979.

n Art in the Park at Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of the month beginning today through Nov. 2. Over 90 artists will feature paintings, sculptures, ceramics, home decoration, jewelry, glass art, textiles, and bath and beauty products.

The event will include gourmet coffee and pastries, Alex’s barbecue, live music, art demonstrations and children’s activities. Admission is free. Dogs are welcome.

n Little Squirts Olympics will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Five Cities Swim Club at 425 Traffic Way in Arroyo Grande. The little squirts will be showing off their skills such as swimming under water, taking breaths, and swimming 25 feet. They will also show their lifesaving skills by rolling over from their front to their back. The event is open to the public, who can then swim free at no charge.

n Afternoon of Epicurean Delight tickets are now available for $100 and may be purchased at The Crushed Grape, the San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande Chambers of Commerce, or by calling the EOC Health Services Administrative office at 544-2498.

The event will be held from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. June 1 at the Chapman House by the Sea in Shell Beach and will feature fine food and wine, a variety of live music and a silent auction.

Breakaway Tours will provide the shuttle service from F. McLintocks on Mattie Road in Shell Beach which will begin operation at 11:15 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.

n St., Patrick’s Walk-a-Thon will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. May 9 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Elementary and Junior High School, 900 W. Branch St., Arroyo Grande. Bring you own picnic lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Students, staff, parents and the community are invited to participate in the event. Participants are asked to find sponsors to pledge money for this fundraising activity. An event T-shirt will be given to those participants who have $25 in pledges. No dogs allowed.

n The Family Care Network’s 5th annual Miracle Miles for Kids will be held at 8:30 a.m. May 10. The 10K walk/run benefiting foster and high-needs children and families in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties will run along the water’s edge from Morro Rock in Morro Bay to the Cayucos Pier. A post-race party will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with live music by Still Time, lunch, a vendor fair, children’s activities and an award ceremony.

n The Arthritis Foundation’s San Luis Obispo Arthritis Walk will kick off May 10 at Lake Park in Atascadero. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and walk festivities start at 9 a.m. The distance of the walk is 5K (3.1 miles) with a one-mile option.

The Arthritis Foundation Health Expo will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to educate participants on the latest resources and services available for arthritis. n Pacific Coast Railroad Roundup will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10 and 11 at Santa Margarita Ranch at Yerba Buena Avenue. The event will feature train rides, exhibits, entertainment, railroad art, food and souvenirs. Proceeds will benefit the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum’s effort to refurbish a museum site in San Luis Obispo’s historic railroad district. Tickets for adults are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate; children 13 and under are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate; admission is free for children under 3. Tickets are available at Central Coast Trains in Atascadero, at the Santa Maria Valley Railroad, 628 S. McClelland St., and at the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce. n “A Round to Remember” golf tournament sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association Central Coast will be held May 12 at Cypress Ridge Golf Course, 780 Cypress Ridge Parkway, Arroyo Grande. Tee-off will be at noon and dinner will be served at 5 p.m. with silent and live auctions. Local musicians will provide entertainment.

n The Kiwanis 18th Annual Central Coast All Star Basketball Spectacular 2008 will be held May 13 at Nipomo High School. The event will feature Northern Santa Barbara County versus San Luis Obispo County Senior High School All Stars. Girls’ Game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ game begins at 7:30 p.m. There will be a slam dunk contest and a 3-point shooting contest.

Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for students and children. The event is sponsored by Kiwanis Clubs of Nipomo and Santa Maria Valley.

n St. Patrick’s Outreach Ministry will host a “Night To Remember” May 17 at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo. The event will include cocktails and a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., a dinner by Paul Kwong served at 7 p.m., followed by a live auction and dancing to music by Unfinished Business. Proceeds will enable Outreach Ministry to help those in crisis who need food, clothing, and shelter. Tickets are $85.

n A Monte Carlo Casino Night will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. May 30 at the Atascadero Best Western Colony Hall on El Camino Real to benefit the Central Coast Zoo Society. The fundraiser will specifically help fund the New Zoo, a large renovation project planned for the Charles Paddock Zoo.

The entry fee for adults 21 and over is $60 per person and $100 per couple for tickets in advance or $75 per person and $125 per couple for tickets at the door. The entry fee includes chips for gambling and unlimited food and wine. The event will feature dancing, giveaways, and psychic reading. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served with the games beginning at 7 p.m. Blackjack, poker, roulette and craps will be available for play. A poker tournament will be available for an additional $25 entry fee.
